Saptami — Pitru Paksha

A 16-tithi journey of Tarpanam, remembrance & ancestral reconciliation

About this gathering

You did not begin with yourself. A river of lives, prayers, gifts, sacrifices and unfinished stories flows behind you.

Pitru Paksha is the sacred ancestral fortnight — a time to remember those who came before, offer nourishment through water and prayer, give thanks for the life that reached you, and consciously release what no longer needs to travel forward. This is not a journey built on fear of the ancestors, but on śraddhā: sincere reverence.

Across one complete lunar passage (September 26 – October 10, 2026), we learn the meaning of every tithi from Bhadrapada Purnima to Sarva Pitru Amavasya, study the foundations of Shraddha and Tarpanam, and practise one remembrance ritual for each stage of the descent from Full Moon to New Moon.

Daily live sessions at 7:00 AM CET, with a recording for every session. Beginners and experienced practitioners are both welcome; you will never be required to share private family history.

The evening
Movement I — Remember (Purnima–Panchami)
Open the field, learn the ritual foundations, name the lineages and restore the ancestors to conscious memory.
Movement II — Reconcile (Shashthi–Dashami)
Meet the patterns carried through body, home, relationship and the feminine and masculine streams of the family.
Movement III — Release & Bless (Ekadashi–Amavasya)
Honour renunciants and young lives, hold space for difficult deaths, and complete the fortnight through collective offering and dāna.

Common questions

Do I need to know my ancestors' names or gotra?

No. Known names may be used, but the practice includes respectful language for unknown and forgotten ancestors of both lineages.

What if I don't know the death tithi?

Sarva Pitru Amavasya is traditionally used when the tithi is unknown; the course also explains how a death tithi is determined.

Can I take part if one or both parents are living?

Yes. Where a tradition restricts formal Tarpanam, an alternative gratitude and lineage-honouring practice is provided.

Can women participate?

Yes. The immersion welcomes women and men, and explains the difference between formal rites and accessible remembrance practices.

Is this a replacement for a priest-led Shraddha?

No. It is an educational and guided spiritual immersion; family-specific rites should be performed with a qualified priest where applicable.

Must I perform every ritual?

No. You may take part through listening, prayer, journaling, mantra or a simple water offering, according to your capacity.
